To get the most out of life, you need to be productive. Most of us aren’t very productive, but fortunately, there are methods to improve productivity. But what is productivity? Productivity describes various measures of production efficiency. The ratio of inputs to outputs is critical to productivity. Productivity can improve over time, but there are ways to immediately boost it. Here are six simple steps to becoming a productivity ninja.
When you find yourself losing productivity, stop and think about what you’d like to achieve long-term and what matters most to you. Working with that in mind, you’ll get more clarity, and you’ll feel more motivated to take action, thereby increasing your productivity.
The biggest source of disruption from your productivity is distractions. Whether they are caused by television, phone, or a series of random thoughts, distractions harm your productivity. Overcome distractions and anchor yourself at the present. Sometimes it means being present. Take a deep breath, wipe off unwanted thoughts, eliminate distractions, and become present, and repeat this strategy over and over again to foster productivity.
What you eat affects how productive you are. Most of us eat in a hurry and eat bad food. They’re full, but after eating they will make you feel lethargic and exhausted, so you can bet your productivity will not be so high, either. When you eat a nutritious meal containing fruits, vegetables, and lean meat, you will have more energy and be more productive. So pay attention to what you eat and choose foods that give you energy instead of taking away from it.
It can be overwhelming to take on big tasks, and their size may make us feel de-motivated. To tackle this obstacle, split every big task into smaller ones, and concentrate mainly on the smaller ones. For example, say your big task is to write an entire book. You can break that down into several small chapters, and then focus on the chapter you have to write instead of worrying about the whole book. By writing a small chapter, you’ll finish it before you know it.
Taking regular breaks increases your productivity, but they should not be taken too often or too long. It gives your mind and body a sense of rest so that you can work more efficiently and effectively later on. Contrary to this, people who rarely take breaks while they work, once again suffer from exhaustion. They may work more, but at a much lower efficiency, which is bad for them as well as for the quality of their work.
